Custom Items

Custom items are things you add to the grocery list manually — not tied to any recipe. One-off purchases, household supplies, anything that doesn’t have a recipe.

Adding custom items

From the Groceries page: Use the input at the bottom of the page. Type a name and press Enter.

From the search overlay: Press / (or tap the search icon) anywhere in the app. Type the name of what you need. Under the Add to grocery list heading, click the item to add it straight to Groceries without leaving the current page.

Placing items in a specific aisle

Use the Name @ Aisle syntax:

Dish soap @ Cleaning
Sparkling water @ Beverages

If the aisle name matches one of your configured aisles (case-insensitive), the item lands there. If it doesn’t match, it goes to Miscellaneous.

Without @ Aisle, the item also goes to Miscellaneous.

Custom items and the schedule

Custom items aren’t part of the schedule system or the Inventory Check process. Items in To Buy stay there until you check them off or remove them. Once checked off, they disappear from the list the next day — handy for one-off purchases you don’t need to track.

Removing custom items

Tap the × next to a custom item to remove it from the list entirely.
